AUSTRALIAN COMPANIES TO DEVELOP PRODUCTS BASED ON LOCAL MARKET



Jakarta, April 22 (ANTARA) - Australian mobile content companies will develop product relevant to Indonesian market in cooperation with its counterparts in Indonesia by holding a Mobile Content and Solutions Showcase 2010.

"We are very pleased that we have 60 Indonesian companies that came to meet with the Australian company and we hope that we can lead to a new opportunity in telecommunication mobile technology sector," said Elodie Journet, ASEAN Team Leader-ICT (Information Communication and Technology) for the Australian Trade Commission, here Thursday.

Through Mobile Content and Solutions Showcase 2010, the Australian trade commission is trying to promote collaboration that can beneficial to Indonesia, she said.

Australia sees that Indonesia as a huge mobile market, and is looking for bilateral collaboration and share some expertise and experience which became the focus of this showcase of "how we can also work in partner to develop content that is relevant to be used in Indonesia".

"Indonesia has 160 million mobile users which considered a huge mobile market," Elodie said.

According to Elodie, this showcase is a first step for the Australian companies, and hope it will lead to greater cooperation in the future, and looking forward for strong outcome of the result.

Patrick Kearins, Australian Trade Commissioner for Indonesia on the same occasion said that, earlier the showcase was also held in the Philippines with a good cooperation and "we are imagining the same thing will happen in Indonesia".

"We also offer some cutting edge technology that have not yet been available in any markets, but Indonesia as a high mobile user market can experience technology that has been developed in Australia as a cooperation partnership which makes sense to Indonesian consumer," he said.

Indonesia is a massive mobile communication market where people used to have two or three mobile devices for themselves, and that's one of reason why this mission is important, it makes the tech that allows safe internet banking, online Transaction, secures delivery of messages that are available to much broader population in Indonesia that most of modern devices can, Patrick said.

The Australian Embassy will hold its inaugural Australian Mobile Content and Solutions Showcase in Indonesia from 22 to 23 April at the Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta.

"This event is timely considering the telecommunications market is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. The showcase will provide a unique opportunity for best practice and information exchange in the dynamic telecommunications and mobile industry," said Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Bill Farmer.

The event will showcase leading Australian mobile technology companies in the areas of content development, emergency warning, mobile infrastructure and infotainment services, security and authentication solutions, secured mobile online services, and mobile learning technology. The showcase will include delegates from BoxSentry, Ferntree Asia Pacific, Crewjo, Gambit Group, Unico Computer Systems and QPay.

Australia's telecommunications market has a reputation for efficiency and competitiveness.

The digital content industry in Australia is a vibrant, fast-growing sector within the Australian economy, including mobile content industry.

Australia is a significant exporter of digital content and digital services, particularly mobile content and e-Learning products.
