Kyrgyzstan vows to abide by all earlier reached int'l accords.

BISHKEK, April 22 (Itar-Tass) - Kyrgyzstan will abide by all the
earlier reached international understandings and agreements, Ruslan
Kazakbayev, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the republic, stated on Thursday during a meeting with Farid Mukhametshin, Russian special presidential representative for relations with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), an official in the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry has told Itar-Tass.

The press service official emphasized, "Kazakbayev assured the Russian
side of the continuity of all the earlier reached understandings the
Kyrgyz Republic had reached in bilateral and multilateral formats, as well
as of intentions actively to interact within the framework of the CIS, the
Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Eurasian Economic Community,
the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Organization for Security and
Cooperation in Europe, the United Nations, and other organizations".
For his part, the Russian presidential representative assured
Kazakbayev that he had arrived in Bishkek "with an assignment to get
information on the situation" in Kyrgyzstan and "find out whether there is
need for assistance on the part of Russia". He said the Russian Federation
"will go ahead with the implementation of joint projects" in this country
in various fields.
The press service announcement said that understandings had been
reached during the meeting between Kazakbayev and Mukhametshin "about
considering the possibility of implementing joint projects in the sphere
of education and science". Russia is also ready to discuss the question of
enlarging the quota for the education of Kyrgyz citizens in Russian
institutions of higher learning, including that for members of the
families of those who died in Bishkek during the April 7-8 unrest.
Within the scope of the trip to Kyrgyzstan, Mukhametshin also met
Thursday with Roza Otunbayeva, head of the interim government of the
republic, who informed him of measures being taken by the new authorities
to stabilize the country's situation.
