IAEA principles should be followed to conduct dialogue with Iran.
MOSCOW, July 7 (Itar-Tass) -- It is necessary to follow the principles of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in order to conduct a dialogue with Iran, holds Konstantin Kosachev, the chairman of the State Duma Committee for International Relations.
"Russia, just as other states, wishes the international community to have political control over the Iranian nuclear programme," Kosachev said. "Nevertheless, it is pointless to try impose control on Iran," he said. "We will only push it out of the international cooperation system," Kosachev noted. "It is necessary to work toward agreement with Iran using mechanisms within the IAEA. So far their cooperation is effective," he said.
"The IAEA has not registered a single case of violations of the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty so far," the MP said. "It is necessary topreserve the regime of cooperation with the IAEA, to ensure the presence of international observers." Kosachev said, "This system works effectively." "I do not favour abrupt changes in this," he said.
