GOVT'S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FOCUSES ON 12 SECTORS

Jakarta, April 24 (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa has said 12 sectors were on top of the government's economic development priority until 2014.

Speaking at a seminar on "Sustainable Business Competitiveness: The Next Challenge", Hatta Rajasa said the government was focusing its priority on 12 sectors in a bid to step up national economic growth and Indonesia's competitiveness at international level.

The seminar was organized by the Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB) post graduate program on business and management at Grand Hyatt Hotel here on Saturday.

Hatta Rajasa said the 12 sectors were the improvement in export, investment, optimization of government expense, industrial improvement, agriculture improvement, testier sector development, monetary stability, sustainable budget, job opportunity, poverty reduction, and small medium business development.

He said the government put the 12 sectors on its list of priority because not all of the sectors could be pushed to improve national economic growth at international level.

Therefore he added that in the midst of tight competition among nations, the government was required to continue to improve the national economic growth.

He said the government has a target to reach 5 percent of economic growth this year and 7 percent by the end of 2014.
