Swans soar past struggling Eagles

Sydney have continued their impressive start to the AFL season with a 53-point
victory over West Coast at the SCG.
The Swans' 17.14 (116) to 9.9 (63) triumph over their fierce rivals is their fourth
straight win and takes them to 4-1 for the season, while the struggling Eagles slump
to 1-4.
Daniel Bradshaw kicked six goals for Sydney to take his tally to 17 for the season,
while Jarrad McVeigh, Ryan O'Keefe and Kieren Jack were all instrumental in the
comfortable win, their fourth straight against the Eagles.
West Coast kept the score reasonably close until the final quarter, but never seemed
likely to cause the upset, with Josh Kennedy their only multiple goal-kicker with
three.
Adam Selwood, Matt Priddis and Dean Cox contributed for the visitors, but Nic
Naitanui had a quiet afternoon for a West Coast side that never led.
It was a one-sided contest early on, with Sydney dominating possession and pinning
the Eagles in their own defensive half for long periods.
The home side took advantage, with Bradshaw kicking the opening two goals as the
Swans got off to a fast start.
Ashton Hams replied for West Coast, before the impressive McVeigh kicked Sydney's
third, but the Eagles were able to withstand the onslaught and gradually found more
of the ball.
Kennedy kicked a late goal for the visitors as Sydney took just a seven-point margin
into the first break.
The home side again dictated terms in the second quarter, but inaccurate kicking was
keeping West Coast in the contest.
Six consecutive shots on goal resulted in only an Adam Goodes major for the wasteful
Swans.
Three quick goals late in the term finally gave Sydney some breathing space until a
Cox set shot after the siren left the Eagles trailing by 22 points at halftime.
The third quarter was a quiet affair, but Sydney remained comfortably the better
team and managed to stretch their lead.
The Eagles had the odd moment as they tried to fight their way back, but Jack lifted
noticeably and helped the Swans kick four goals to two for the quarter for a
32-point lead at the last change.
The final term was then a procession as Sydney boosted their percentage and
solidified their place in the top four.
