Lao and Chinese businessmen discuss investment in Bokeo
VIENTIANE 23 APRIL (KPL) Over 100 representatives of 91 companies of Laos and China met in Bokeo province last Wednesday to discuss investment opportunities in the northern province and the Golden Triangle special economic zone.
The Lao side was led by Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Mr. Thongmy Phommisay and the Chinese side was headed by Board of Directors Chairman of the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone, Mr. Chao Wei.
The participants to the meeting learned the Law on investment promotion in the Lao PDR.
They were also informed that tourism, agriculture, light industries, education, health and the exploitation of the Mekong River have high potential of investment.
“This is the first time for both Lao and Chinese business people to meet and discuss investment in the province,” said Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone, Mr. Ousavanh Thiengthebvongsa.
