EARTHQUAKE SHAKES SAUMLAKI, MALUKU



Jakarta, April 26 (ANTARA) - An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale jolted areas around 294 km northwest of Saumlaki, Maluku Province, Monday at 6.23 am Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB).

The quake's epicenter located 6.93 degrees southern latitude, and 128.88 degrees eastern longitude, at a depth of 10 km below sea level, and about 375 kilometers southeast of Ambon (Maluku), 409 kilometers northeast of Dili (Timor Leste), and 452 kilometers northwest of Tual (Maluku), according to information of the National Meteorological, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), here, Monday.

The temblor did not have potential to trigger a tsunami, BMKG said.
