SCO university foundation discussed at forum.

MOSCOW, April 26 (Itar-Tass) - The foundation of the common university
of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is the
main item on the agenda of the Third Week of Education of the SCO
countries that opened in the Russian capital on Monday. The foundation of
the common university by the SCO countries will enable harmonization of
joint actions of the participating countries in the sphere of education,
Vladimir Fridlyanov, the deputy minister of education and science of the
Russian Federation, said, opening the forum.
"The foundation of the university meets the organization's purposes,
the main purpose being to raise the living standards of people in the
participating countries," he said.
Participants in the forum from Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan and
Tajikistan represented by chiefs of departments of the profile ministries,
went along with the Russian deputy minister. Reading out the messages from
their ministers at the opening of the forum, they stressed the importance
of founding the new university that would permit creating a new
educational space on the five countries' territories.
Kyrgyzstan is represented at the forum by Kanat Sadykov, department
chief of the republican Ministry of Education and Science. He noted that
after the recent change of power in the country "the ministry was
preserved, while the minister and all staffers were reappointed." "The
education sphere in our country is a priority, so the new Kyrgyzstani
authorities give special attention to it," he stressed.
SCO university will enroll the first students in September 2010. "The
innovation model of the education process, based on multifaceted
interaction of national educational systems will be tried out in
2010-2012," said a source in the Ministry of Education and Science of the
Russian Federation. "The conference will discuss the tasks of national
bodies managing education for founding SCO university, as well as
normative, legal, financial, methods, information and technical aspects of
the university's foundation," said the source.
