EU to allocate 12 mln euros to Kyrgyzstan.
BISHKEK, April 28 (Itar-Tass) - The European Union will allocate 12
million euros in two tranches to Kyrgyzstan, EU ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Chantal Hebberecht said on Wednesday at a meeting with deputy head of Kyrgyzstan's interim government and acting finance minister Temir Sariyev.
Hebberecht said the European Union was ready to render support to the
country's interim government. In her words, the first tranche of seven
million euros will be granted in June-July 2010, and the second tranche of
five million euros - in October-November 2010.
She also said the European Union will continue to render financial
assistance to the Central Asian republic in 2011.
Sariyev reassured Kyrgyzstan would stick to its commitments under
agreements with the European Union.
Earlier, support to Kyrgyzstan's budget was provided by Russia. On
Monday, Moscow transferred 20 million U.S. dollars to the Kyrgyz finance
ministry, and another 30 million U.S. dollars in a loan are expected to be
transferred to Bishkek on Wednesday.
According to the Kyrgyz ministry of finance, the country's state
budget deficit might reach 50 million U.S. dollars in May after vacation
bonuses are paid out to the country's teachers.
