Development of ties with China-priority of Armenia foreign policy.
YEREVAN, May 2 (Itar-Tass) - The development of relations with China
is "a priority of Armenia's foreign policy", said Armenian President Serzh
Sargsian who met Chinese President Hu Jintao on Sunday during his Chinese
visit for the opening of the world exhibition "Shanghai-EXPO-2010".
"Our bilateral relations have a trend for developing," Sargsian noted.
He thanked the Chinese chief executive for the invitation to the opening
ceremony of the exhibition and congratulated China for the successful
start of this event, the Armenian president's press service reported here
on Sunday.
According to Sargsian, "the high-level political dialogue,
revitalisation of cooperation in public, political, economic, cultural and
educational spheres, mutual support in the multilateral format help to
consolidate mutual understanding and confidence" between the two countries.
Sargsian and Hu stated that numerous joint projects in the sphere of
energy, the chemical industry, agriculture, science, technology, defence,
culture and education are being implemented with great success. According
to the president, accumulated rich experience of Armenian-Chinese
cooperation is good grounds for bringing bilateral relations to a higher
level.
The presidents discussed China's participation in building a railway
from Armenia to Iran. They also emphasised that commissioning of an
Armenian-Chinese joint venture on production of synthetic rubber
Shanxi-Nairit in the Chinese Shanxi province is important evidence of the
development of bilateral relations.
The presidents assured each other of their readiness to take
additional efforts to boost Armenian-Chinese friendly relations.
