Turkey in talks with Azerbaijan on gas supplies for Nabucco.

ANKARA, May 4 (Itar-Tass) - Turkey is conducting talks with Azerbaijan
to ensure guaranteed gas supplies for the Nabucco gas pipeline project and
for the Turkey-Greece-Italy pipeline, Referans newspaper said on Tuesday.
At this stage the talk is about 13 billion cubic meters of gas
supplies a year.
The two projects seek to get gas from the Shakh Deniz field, but it is
still undecided what pipeline will get more gas. The newspaper said this
would become known in the second half of the year after Turkey and
Azerbaijan resolve the existing issues. In particular, this concerns the
gas purchase price, payment of transit duties and Turkey's cost recovery
taking into account market price fluctuations. Turkey that buys gas at 120
U.S. dollars per 1,000 cubic meters said it was ready to pay compensations.
Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said the relevant agreement can
be signed within a month. At the initial stage the two projects need 8
billion cubic meters a year each.
At the same time Referans said by 2015 when the two pipelines should
begin to pump gas, supplies from Shakh Deniz will be not enough for
loading the two pipelines simultaneously.
Participants in the Nabucco project are conducting talks with Iraq to
get additional volumes of gas.
The newspaper also noted that Turkey may use the right to re-export
Azerbaijan's gas. In particular, enjoying this right Turkey has been
exporting around 750 million cubic meters to Greece a year for a long time.
The Russian-Turkish contracts also contain certain re-export
provisions.
