Hu Jintao`s Moscow visit to encourage strategic partnership - aide.
BEIJING, May 5 (Itar-Tass) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to
Moscow on May 8 through 9 will encourage further development of strategic
partnership between the two countries, an aide to the Chinese foreign
minister said on Wednesday.
"Hu Jintao's participation in WWII Victory celebrations is a major
event in the Chinese-Russian relations symbolizing the spirit of bilateral
cooperation," said Cheng Guoping.
"We believe this visit will help strengthen strategic confidence
between Russia and China and will encourage further development of
strategic partnership and cooperation," he stressed.
According to the Chinese diplomat, Russia attaches great significance
to the events commemorating the 65th anniversary of the Victory over
Nazism. These events are called to help the world community keep the
memory of historical facts and reach unity and accord, he noted.
During his stay in Moscow, the Chinese president will hold a number of
bilateral meetings with visiting heads of state. He is also expected to
award decorations to Russian veterans who took part in liberating China's
north-eastern provinces from Japanese invaders, the diplomat said.
