.

BEIJING, May 10 (Itar-Tass) -- China reports further decline in its
foreign trade surplus. The indicator dropped by 87 percent in April 2010
and stood at 1.68 billion U.S. dollars, an official at the Chinese General
Administration of Customs said on Monday.
In the period under review, the country's export amounted to 119.92
billion U.S. dollars, while its import totalled 118.24 billion U.S.
dollars.
In the first four months of the year, China's overall trade turnover
increased by 42.7 percent to 855.99 billion U.S. dollars, the official
said, adding that the country's trade surplus decreased by 78.6 percent in
January-April 2010 and amounted to 16.11 billion U.S. dollars.
Despite rather intensive growth of China's export, which is being
recovered after the global economic crisis' impact on the country's
economy, its surplus continues to decrease due to the hike in the import
indicators.
In March, the country's foreign trade had operated with deficit - for
the first time over the recent six years.
