SvyazExpoComm exhibition-2010 to open in Moscow Tue.
MOSCOW, May 11 (Itar-Tass) - Eastern Europe's major exhibition of
achievements in the field of telecomunication technologies, the
SvyazExpoComm-2010, opens at the ExpoCenter here on Tuesday.
The exhibition is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Telecom
and Mass Communications, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the
Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Deputy Minister of Communications Alexander Zharov said, "This
exhibition has grown by one-third as compared with that held last year".
This time, 540 exhibitors, with about 300 of them being Russian, will
display their achievements on an area of 25,000 square metres. The
products of the development efforts of companies from 22 countries,
including Austria, Germany, France, the United States, China, Sweden, and
Japan, will be featured at the exhibition, which will also involve the
operators of cellular phone networks, companies that make
telecommunication equipment, telecasting companies, and other players on
the market of communications.
Russian exhibitors include such prominent firms and enterprises as the
Svyazinvest, the AFK Sistema, Megaphone, Vympelkom, the VGTRK all-Russia
television and radio broadcasting company, the RTRS Russian Television and
Radio Broadcasting System, the Postal Service of Russia, the Gazprom Space
Systems and many other ones.
Russian and foreign exhibitors will put on show the latest advances in
the field of mobile communication, 3G and 4G technologies, satellite-aided
commuications, interactive games of skill, and TV and radio broadcasting
equipment. An "IT students e-cup 2010" will be held within the framework
of the exhibition.
The programme of the exhibition also provides for the holding of
conferences, seminars, and roundtable meetings. Zharov said, "A special
enlarged meeting of the Communications Ministry Board will be held to
report the results of the work done by the Ministry in 2009 and in the
first quarter of 2010, outline plans for the future". Those present at the
Ministry Board meeting are to discuss prospects for a further growth of
the ICT sector of information communication technologies, socio-economic
importance of the conversion State-provided services into electronic form,
and work to maintain the personnel potential of the secror.
Roundtable meetings will deal with the problems of paid television in
Russia, the ensurance of qualitative access to the Internet, and the
introduction of digital TV.
The first Russian forum on Internet management will open on the third
day of the exhibition, on May 13. The Russian Communications Ministry and
the ICANN international corporation are among organisers of the forum.
Those present will touch upon the legal and sociocultural aspects of the
management of the world cyberspace, discuss the Internet safety problems,
and examine prospects for the creation of domainnames in national
languages.
On the exhibition's closing day, a ceremony is to be held to present
Radiomania prize for achievements in the field of radiobroadcasting, and
awards to students who have been succesful in the field of inforamtion
technologies. A meeting of the Council on Mass Communications is also
scheduled for the closing day.
