UAE introduces new multiple entry visa

Dubai, Jul 11 (PTI) The U.A.E. has introduced a new multiple entry visa regime, making it mandatory for applicants to have a health insurance and deposit Rs 11,000 as afinancial guarantee.

The changes were introduced from July 5 following a directive by Minister of Interior Lieutenant-General ShaikhSaif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, local media said.

According to the new rules, the visa holders can enter the country several times during the six months from the dateof issuance and stay for a maximum of 14 days on every visit.

There will be two types of visit visas, both non-renewable where foreigners will be allowed to enter theU.A.E. once within two months from the date of issue.

The long-term visit visa allows the holders to stay in the U.A.E. for 90 days while the short-term visit visa, allowsthe holders to stay in the country for 30 days.

In all circumstances, the applicant should have a health insurance cover and pay around Rs 11,000 as a financialguarantee, refundable upon departure.

Universities, institutes and educational or research institutions licensed in the U.A.E. will have to provide theguarantee for the study visa.

Visit visas may be issued for medical treatment. The holder of such a permit may enter the country once, within twomonths from the date of issue.

The person could stay in the country for 90 days from the date of entry. Such permit may be extended only once for the same period. A hospital must sponsor the patient and a medical report must be furnished along with the abovementioned amount.

Visas for attending any exhibition, festival or conference will only be for a single entry within two months from the date of issuance. The person could stay for up to 30 days and the visa cannot be extended. PTI
