Austrian businessmen offer their know-how for Sochi Olympic

KRASNODAR, July 11 (Itar-Tass) -- During Thursday's meeting with Deputy Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Tatyana Yevsikova, Austrian businessmen have offered to use their systems for the generation ofartificial snow at the Sochi Olympic entities.

The participants in the meeting discussed the use of Austria-designed artificial snow making machines for Alpine skiing.

The delegation of Austrian businessmen arrived in the Krasnodarterritory for a three-day visit.

Austria is ready to develop cooperation in various spheres. It is ready to build in the Krasnodar territory plants for processing agricultural products, dairy factories, industrial plants, as well as to bring into the region modern water purification technologies and export pedigree cattle, a representative of the Austrian business delegation saidat the meeting with the territorial administration.

Currently, Austrian investors are implementing more than 10 projectsof strategic importance for the regional economy.

The decision about the visit was reached during an official visit of President of Austrian Federal Chamber of Economy Christoph Leitl to theKrasnodar territory in May 2008.

Back then, the regional administration signed a cooperation agreement with Casino Austria, the largest European gambling operator, on thedevelopment of the Azov-City gaming zone in the Scherbinovsky district.

The present-day dialogue is a step towards a new stage of fruitful cooperation between Kuban (another name of the Krasnodar Territory) andAustria, Yevsikova said.

She recalled that currently the territory can offer more than 1,000 interesting projects for foreign and Russian investors, including such a mega-project as the Olympic Sochi, special economic spa zones and theAzov-City gaming zone.

"We were not very much upset, when Salzburg lost the chance to be the venue of Winter Olympic Games 2014, because we realised that Austria with its know- how anyway will take part in the preparations for the Olympic games - in Sochi," Vice President of the Austrian Federal Chamber of Economy Mathias Kren said in Vienna this April at the presentation of theeconomic potential of the Krasnodar territory.

Back then, the business delegation held a presentation of the Krasnodar territory's economic potential and signed thirty-four investmentagreements on a total sum of 3.1 billion euros.

During the presentation, 1,600 investment projects worth of 12 billioneuros were represented. Attending in the event were 300 Austrian companies.

Among the biggest investors, with whom the above-mentioned investment agreements were signed were the Bank of Austria, are several Austrian companies. Austrian businessmen expressed huge interest in Kuban's energypotential.

According to Chief of the Fuel and Energy Department Vladimir Chepel, a company that delivers equipment for the Kuban beef and dairy industry within many years, is ready to invest 75 million euros more in theconstruction of a mini-power plant in the territory.

Another Austrian company, Metall Waren Fabric, plans to invest 14 million euros in the construction of a facility for production of equipment for power plants with a capacity of 5,000 kilowatt, the pressservice said.
