May 15th announced day of mourning in Kemerovo region.



MEZHDURECHENSK, the Kemerovo region, May 15 (Itar-Tass) - May 15 has
been announced a day of mourning in Kemerovo region to pay tribute to the
miners who died in the explosions at Raspadskaya mine on the night from
May 8 to May 9.
National flags in regional cities and towns have been lowered; all
entertainment programs, concerts and sport events have been cancelled.
Changes have been introduced to TV and radio programs.
Six miners will be buried in Mezhdurechensk on Saturday, May 15.
Thousands of people are expected to come out to the town's central streets
to pay homage to the dead miners. There's a shortage of flowers in
Mezhdurechensk.
The leaders of many countries are sending telegrams of condolences to
the Kuzbass region.

. Youngsters to stage 'Our Victory' patriotic action in Moscow.

MOSCOW, May 15 (Itar-Tass) - An all-Russian youth action 'Our Victory'
will be held in Moscow on Saturday. More than 65,000 young people from
various parts of Russia and the CIS will participate in the event devoted
to the 65th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
"All the participants in the action will receive a wartime cartridge
with an inscription "Remember the War, Guard Motherland!" from veterans
who are going to be present at the event. This will be a symbol of
succession of generations," sources at the Federal Agency for Youth
Affairs, the action's organizers, told Itar-Tass.
The participants in the 'Our Victory' action will be able to meet
veterans to shoot a film about every hero of the Great Patriotic War who
are still alive. " At least 150,000 such films will be shot before the
year's end," the sources said.
The "Our Victory" federal project kicked off in Russia on February 16,
2010. The multi-thousand Saturday patriotic action will be its
culmination. Its aim is to create a huge video archive of recollections of
veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
The project's organizers are the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, the
Moscow State Humanitarian University named after Sholokhov and the 'Nashi'
youth movement.
The project's aim is to confront attempts to falsify history and
preserve the memory about war veterans for future generations.

. Interior department building attacked in Nazran.

NAZRAN, May 15 (Itar-Tass) - Unidentified gunmen fired three shots
from a grenade launcher at a building of the Nazran regional interior
department in the outskirts of Magas early on Saturday.
No casualties are being reported, although the building is slightly
damaged. A return fire was opened at the attackers. An investigative team
has left for the scene. Measures are being taken to search for and detain
the criminals.

. Train traffic resumes in Mezhdurechensk.

MOSCOW, May 15 (Itar-Tass) - Railway traffic via Mezhdurechensk, the
Kemerovo region, has resumed, the Russian Railways press service said on
Saturday.
On Friday evening, the company reported that more than 20 freight
trains and a passenger train with 204 passengers had been delayed in
Mezhdurechensk because local residents had blocked the track on a railway
section between the Karai and Mezhdurechensk stations.
"Freight and passenger trains in the territory of the Mezhdurechensk
region are moving in a normal regime," the Russian Railways reported.

. Annual ecological festival to open in Moscow.

MOSCOW, May 15 (Itar-Tass) - An annual ecological festival 'Parks of
Moscow Gather Friends -2010' will open at the Moscow Palace of Children's
Art on Vorobyovy Hills on Saturday.
A carnival march in which any person will be able to take part will
open the festival. A source at the Moscow department for the use of
natural resources and environmental protection said that school children
and teachers, inmates of children's homes and Moscow families would get
many practical hints an skills on Saturday. On this day they will learnt
how to pull nettle without getting burnt, how to fight a forest enemy like
cow-parsnip and walk barefoot on a cherry path.
The aim of this ecological forum is to draw attention to the need to
save resources in every day life.
The festival's program includes a relay, contests, quizzes, games,
draw games - and a concert in the end.
Activists of the 'Friends of Protected Areas' movement and the winners
of the city contest of implemented ecological projects will receive their
awards.
