RF, China to reach trade turnover of $60 bln in 2010 - Gryzlov.
BEIJING, May 18 (Itar-Tass) -- The trade turnover between Russia and
China might reach a record-breaking level of 60 billion U.S. dollars in
2010, speaker of the Russian State Duma lower parliament house Boris
Gryzlov said on Tuesday.
"The trade turnover level between the two countries is nearing 60
billion U.S. dollars a year," Gryzlov told journalists after his meeting
with Chinese President Hu Jintao. "According to the forecast, and it was
confirmed at the meeting with Hu Jintao, we will reach a historical
maximum in the trade turnover volume this year."
Tackling issues of cooperation between the two countries, the Duma
speaker said: "There are many joint projects, including an oil pipeline
project, a gas pipeline construction project, which is being discussed,
construction of the third and fourth power units of the Tianwan nuclear
power plant, joint development of coal fields."
He also drew attention to projects in the area of the humanities.
Thus, he reminded, Russia is holding the Year of the Chinese Language, and
last year, China marked the Year of the Russia Language. "Nowadays, a
total of 25,000 students are studying the Chinese language at Russia's 70
higher educational establishments, and it is also a great help for the
sake of implementation of joint projects," he said.
"The main event of today is, of course, the meeting with Chinese
President Hu Jintao. We have agreed and it should be clear to everyone
that interstate relations between Russia and China have reached a very
high level and are still successfully developing," Gryzlov noted.
The Russian speaker also said he had met with China's Vice-President
Xi Jinping to discuss economic cooperation issues and cooperation between
the Chinese Communist Party and Russia's United Russia.
