Lao students win bronze medal at US engineering competition

VIENTIANE,18 MAY (KPL) - Eastern Star Bilingual School students have won a bronze medal in the senior engineering competition at the international Sustainable World “Energy Engineering and Environment “Project (I-SWEEEP 2010) held in Houston, Texas, the United States of America, on April 14-19.
The competition drew competitors from 60 countries and the United States. The Lao student team won the prize from their invention ‘Insect Saviors Shoes.’
The winning student team is made up of Miss. Phetsalin Mounivong, 15; Miss. Sakiko Harimoto, 15; Miss. Thatsany Meunphilom, 15; and Mr. Nanthakoun Nitsavadvongsa, 14. “We are very proud of all the students and teachers whose efforts have paved the way for this success,” said the School’s Primary and Secondary Section Manager, Mr. Cuma Ali Efeyik.
The Project is organised by the Cosmos Foundation, a non-profit organisation in Houston with a mission to establish college preparatory schools focusing on mathematics, science, engineering, and computer technology in effort to provide World-class Education.
