PRESIDENT RECEIVES CZECH PREMIER


Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj received Wednesday Mr. Jan Fischer, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, in the Government House.
At the beginning of the meeting the President welcomed the Czech Premier to Mongolia and underlined that Mongolia entered the democratic and market relations 20 years ago, like other eastern European countries, and that now it has become one of the countries with free-economic system and democratic government that maintain human rights and freedom and universal values of the world.
The President pointed out that the 60th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations coincides with the 20th anniversary of Mongolia's Democratic Revolution. "The Czech Republic is one of the important partners of Mongolia in Europe. This country prioritizes Mongolia in its cooperation program among other countries," said Elbegdorj. He emphasized that the bilateral collaboration in the educational sphere has played a main role to expand the Mongolia-Czech relations and cooperation, for instance, many Mongolian students have studied in various universities and institutes of the Czech Republic.
The Czech Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the Mongolian President and people for the warm welcome, and said he hopes that the Mongolia-Czech friendly and long-year relations will succeed in all levels. Mr. Fischer shared views with the State Head on related issues.
After this meeting, a First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Mrs. Helena Bambasova was awarded the North Star Order in accordance with the President's order for her significant contributions to the development of bilateral relations and cooperation between Mongolia and the Czech Republic.
Mongolia and the Czech Republic established the diplomatic relations in January 1, 1993. With former Czechoslovakia, the diplomatic ties were established April 25, 1950.
