ST PETERSBURG, July 13 (Itar-Tass) - The 7th International SandSculpture Festival opens in St Petersburg on Sunday.

Sculptors from 23 countries will build their creations during fivedays on the beach around the Peter and Paul Fortress. Every sculptor team will be given 100 tonnes of sand to show their skills and embody the theme of ecology and environment friendliness.

Sculptures will be open for the public round the clock for a month.

"One of the festival's ideas is to preserve and develop humanitarian potential and multifaceted assets of different cultures, material and cultural heritage of the CIS member-states, Europe and Asia," organizers of the festival said.
