Ukraine's Klitschko knocks out US Thompson
FRANKFURT-ON-MAIN, July 13 (Itar-Tass) - Ukraine's Wladimir Klitschko knocked out U.S.' Tony Thompson in the eleventh round to defend his IBF and WBO heavyweight champion titles late on Saturday.
"The fight was very tough, even tougher than I had expected," Klitschko (51-3, 45 knockouts) said after the victory, but "I am very glad to win." Klitshcko brothers forecast before the fight it would end "early and with the knockout" or "with the knockout in the fifth round."The Ukrainian boxer's next fight will be against Russia's Alexander Povetkin, a newly deemed IBF top heavyweight contender.
