DPRK turns down SKorea's proposal on resuming dialogue-newspaper
PYONGYANG, July 13 (Itar-Tass) - North Korea turned down a proposal by South Korean President Lee Myung-bak on resuming the inter-Korean negotiations, writes on Sunday the Rodong Sinmun newspaper, the official daily of the Central Committee of the Korean Workers' Party.
The newspaper notes that the proposal by the South Korean president is of no interest for discussion. Rodong Sinmun accuses Lee of "insincerity", screening a desire to duck responsibility for worsening relations between the North and the South.
Speaking on Friday at the first sitting of the new South Koreanparliament, Lee said that the South Korean government is ready for serious consultations with Pyongyang on translating into life agreements, recorded in the 1972 North-South Joint Communique, the 1991 Basic Agreement and declarations on the results of inter-Korean summits in 2000 and 2007.
