Vice Deputy Prime Minister attends 18th ASEAN-EU Foreign Affairs Ministries Summit

VIENTIANE,25 MAY (KPL) - Dr Thongloun Sisoulith, Vice Deputy Prime Minister of Laos, and his delegation left Vientiane, 24 May, to attend the 18th ASEAN-EU Foreign Affairs Ministries Summit, Madrid, Spain, 26 to 27 May.
During this summit, Dr Thongloun Sisoulith would discuss issues of mutual interest with Hungarian Bulgarian representatives and the EU envoy.
This summit would be chaired by Brunei Darussalam, the coordinator of the ASEAN-EU countries and Sweden, country president of the EU countries.
The summit will be attended by representatives of 37 countries - 10 ASEAN and 27 EU countries.
One of the items in the agenda for discussion is dialogue partner linkages across regions. For this topic the representatives of the member countries would review ASEAN-EU cooperation during the past one year.
The other topics slated for discussion are directions for cooperation in the future, the exchange of experiences by the participating countries on international and regional problems, food security, climate change, environment and energy.
Another item on the agenda is the approval of two documents, statements of co-chairmen of ASEAN-EU and statements on ASEAN-EU cooperation for the fiscal year, 2011-2012.
