Socialist International comm to hold climate change seminar in RF
PETERSBURG, July 14 (Itar-Tass) -- The Socialist International Commission for a Sustainable World Society will hold a seminar here onJuly 14-15.
The seminar will be devoted to the climate change problems and the improvement of the environment protection international regulations.
The speaker of the Federation Council, the upper house of Russia's parliament, and the leader of the Justice Russia Party, Sergei Mironov will host the seminar in the headquarters of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly at the Tavrida Palace in Petersburg. Socialist International Secretary General Luis Ayala will attend the seminar. Former Chilean President Ricardo Lagos and former Swedish Prime Minister Goran Perssonwill co-chair the seminar.
Russian leading scientists, political analysts, chief executives of research institutes and state organisations will participate in the seminar as experts. The seminar participants will discuss three major issues - the struggle with climate warming through economic growth based on justice, employment and the careful attitude to the environment, the assessment of alternative energy sources and the improvement of nationaland international regulations protecting the water resources and forests.
The Socialist International is the largest international non-governmental organisation, which brings together 165 social democratic, socialist and labour parties from 137 countries. The SocialistInternational headquarters is located in London.
The Justice Russia Party led by Sergei Mironov joined officially theSocialist International this year.
.Nashi youth movement to hold 4th all-Russian innovative forum.
MOSCOW, July 14 (Itar-Tass) -- The fourth all-Russian innovative forum, which is organized by the Nashi youth movement, will open on LakeSeliger in the Tver region on Monday.
This year the major task of the forum is to educate the personnel forRussian economy, leader of the Nashi movement Nikita Borovikov said.
"In the three last years our movement was facing the task to preserve the sovereignty of Russia that was accomplished successfully. Now our task is to build the economy in the country through educating the personnel for the country. We should tap the full potential of our young people in order to implement the Russian social and economic development strategy-2020,"he pledged.
More than 10,000 people from 50 Russian regions will arrive for the forum Seliger-2008. The life in the camp will be built on the market principles. A management company will be established to perform the functions of control and management. Thus, the forum Seliger-2008 will become some kind of investment venue, where agreements on cooperation with the largest Russian companies will be concluded for several days, theforum organizers pledged.
Well-known businesspeople and chief executives are expected to attendthe forum.
