Saysettha Hospital gives vaccines against AH1N1 to 4000 people

VIENTIANE, 28 MAY (KPL) -The Saysettha Hospital has vaccinated around 4,000 people against the deadly AH1N1 since May 13, said an official.
“We have over 1,000 doses of AH1N1 left and we hope we will finish vaccinating next week or until we have no vaccines left,” said last Friday Dr. Manivanh Luenammachack of the Saysettha Hospital.
At first the hospital planned to begin vaccination on May 4 but it was unprepared by that time so it gave some vaccines to other hospitals.
“On average, the vaccination is possible for 450 people daily and local residents seem eager with this. Some of them come here because they were suggested by our health officials,” said Dr. Manivanh.
With over 4,100 doses of AH1N1 vaccines, the Chanthaboury District Hospital began the vaccination on May 4. “We focus on health officials, pregnant women, the elderly and those suffering chronic diseases,” said Dr. Chansamone Chittakone of the Chanthaboury District Hospital.
Those vaccinated against AH1N1 will be given certificate which they can present to officials to confirm their vaccination, especially on a foreign trip.
Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh issued an instruction last week urging public sector workers countrywide to pay more attention to the current campaign on the vaccination against 2009 influenza AH1N1. The instruction notes “the target groups can take the vaccine shot at hospitals, healthcare centres and mobile medical teams throughout the country.”
