Vietnamese, Russian communists meet to foster ties

Hanoi (VNA) - A Vietnamese Party politburo member has said Vietnam has always placed importance on relations with traditional friends, includingRussia and the Russian Communist Party.

Standing m ember of the Secretariat of the Communist P arty of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee , Truong Tan Sang, made the remark while receiving the s ecretary of the Russian Communist Party (RCP) CentralCommittee , Dmitri Novikov, in Hanoi on July 14.

Sang said he believed the visit to Vietnam by the RCP delegation, with Novikov as leader, will make contributions to fostering the traditionalfriendship between the two parties and people.

He thanked the Russian people for their assistance to Vietnam during itsnational defence and construction.

Novikov spoke highly of the role, position and prestige of the CPV as wellas the achievements Vietnam has made during the renewal process.

He informed Sang of the results of his talks and meetings with officialsfrom Party agencies and localitites of Vietnam .

The Russian communist also affirmed that the RCP has always placedimportance on developing relations with the CPV.

He said he hoped the two parties increase meetings, and information and experience exchange to enhance the Russia-Vietnam traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation toward strategic partnership.-Enditem
