Anthrax attacks Kyrgyzstan's southern regions
BISHKEK, July 16 (Itar-Tass) - Another outbreak of anthrax has been registered in Kyrgyzstan, an emergencies ministry official told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
Six people have been hospitalised in the Osh region, the source said.
Tests found that all of them ate infected beef.
Over the past several days anthrax cases were registered in twodistricts of the Dzhalal-Abad region. Thirteen people were hospitalised, one of them died.
The epizootic situation is under control, the republic's healthministry said.
According to different estimates, around 300 people in Kyrgyzstan's southern regions took the infected meat.
Meanwhile, the Kyrgyz authorities take extra security measures toprevent the spread of anthrax bacteria. The infected cattle was culled.
