MAINTAIN GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH LOCALS, M'SIAN STUDENTS IN INDONESIA TOLD

JAKARTA, June 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysian students in Indonesia should strive
to maintain good relations with the locals, said Malaysia's Ambassador to
Indonesia Syed Munshe Afdzaruddin Syen Hassan.

"Malaysia and Indonesia are two very close neighbours and have a long
history of good ties.

"Appeciate this and do not do anything that can hurt the feelings of the
people here," he said when addressing Malaysian students who attended the
"Kami Anak Malaysia" (We are the Children of Malaysia) dinner organised bt the
Jakarta Umno Club, here Sunday night.

He said recently, Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak had stated that the
two countries should work hand-in-hand in bringing progress for each other's
peoples and that this was something the students should emulate.

At the function, Siti Nurhidayah Padzil, 24, who completed MBBS degree at
Universiti Indonesia (UI), was chosen as the inaugural winner of the No. 1 Anak
Malaysia Award, for her excellent academic and co-curricular achievements.

Siti Nurhidayah who did the course on a Public Service Department
scholarship aspires to continue her studies in cardiology before returning home
to serve the country.
