VICE-SPEAKER OF AZERBAIJAN PARLIAMENT MEETS HEAD OF ICRC BAKU OFFICE

Baku, 17 July,(AzerTAj)Vice-Speaker of Milli Majlis (Parliament) Bahara Muradova today has met with Martin Amacher, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Baku Office.

Mrs. Muradova underlined that Azerbaijan attaches high significance to cooperation with ICRC.

Azerbaijan suffers from separatism. Armenia`s aggression left thousands
of Azerbaijanis dead and missing. From this standpoint, cooperation with ICRC is
very essential for Azerbaijan, said Vice-Speaker.

Mr. Amacher especially stressed the Parliament`s role in fulfillment obligations taken by Azerbaijan before the international structures.

On importance of cooperation between ICRC and Milli Majlis, Mr. Amacher underlined
that one of the main priorities of ICRC is to collect information about the hostages
and the missing people and return to the relatives. The Committee has signed the
framework agreement with Azerbaijan`s State Committee for Prisoners of War (POW),
Hostages and Missing Citizens to solve these problems.
ICRC head handed over the copy of the model law on the missing people and hostages
of the CIS Parliament Assembly`s Social Policy and Human Rights Commission to Bahar
Muradova.
The sides shared views on other issues of mutual interest.
