Vietnam affirms annual 120,000 USD aid for Palestine

Jakarta (VNA) - A Vietnamese representative to the Ministerial Conference on Capacity Building for Palestine in Indonesia reaffirmed the country's continued annual provision of 120,000 USD as aid to the State of Palestine.

Deputy Foreign Minister Dao Viet Trung pledged that within its capacity Vietnam will actively take part in projects tailored for Palestine at this conference, noting initial offer of scholarships for seven Palestinian students to study the Vietnamese language in Vietnam.

Addressing the conference that brought together 220 senior officials from 55 Asian, African countries and international organisations around the world, Trung highlighted the Palestinian administration's endeavours in building and developing its state and in seeking a peaceful solution to the Middle East issue.

He reiterated Vietnam 's persistent support for the Palestinian people's struggle for justice and regional and international efforts to speed up the Middle East peace process and find out a comprehensive, equal and sustainable solution to the conflict that lasted for over half a decade.

The Vietnamese representative also pointed out that the solution must be based on the UN's related resolutions and land-for-peace principle to ensure concerned parties' interests and contribute to peace and stability in the region.

The Ministerial Conference on Capacity Building for Palestine took place within the framework of the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership (NAASP) on July 14-15, at which participants discussed 90 projects for the benefit of the Palestinian people while calling for implementation of the roadmap for peace in the Middle East.-Enditem
