Kemerovo welcomes children from China

KEMEROVO, July 19 (Itar-Tass) - The Siberian "Fairy Tale" Children's
Center in the Kemerovo region has held a special welcoming ceremony on
Friday for 93 children from the Chinese province of Sichuan who came to Russia on vacation.

The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Kemerovo
governor for education Sergei Muravyov and representatives of the Chinese
embassy in Russia.
The Chinese diplomats expressed sincere gratitude to Kemerovo
regional Governor Aman Tuleyev and the regional administration for support
to the Chinese people who suffered from a devastating quake in Sichuan.
Special gratitude has been expressed for concrete assistance to the
children. The Chinese diplomats praised excellent conditions at the
Siberian Fairy Tale Center and thanked the governor for providing clothes
to the children and a big choice of meals.
The Chinese children arrived in the Kemerovo region at the invitation
of Kemerovo regional governor Aman Tuleyev. China and the Kemerovo region
have long business contacts in the coal production industry and
construction sector. After the news about the Sichuan tragedy was broken
Kuzbass thought it was its duty to respond and offer assistance to the
Chinese colleagues, Aman Tuleyev told Tass.
A total of 1,000 children from China will spend vacation in Russia
this year. Next year 570 more children from Sichuan will be able to go on
vacation to Russia in summer.
The Chinese children will be accommodated at fifteen best
rehabilitation centers in Russia - in the Krasnoyarsk, Maritime regions,
Tuapse on the Russian Black sea coast, the Novosibirsk, Kemerovo and Omsk
regions and "Okean" Children's Center near Vladivostok. The Chinese
children will undergo a special course of rehabilitation treatment and
enjoy a special cultural program.
