Russia, US map out ways for cooperation in nanotechnologies --
WASHINGTON, July 19 (Itar-Tass) - Russia and the U.S. have mapped out ways for cooperation in nanotechnologies, Leonid Melamed, the director general of Rosnanotech state corporation said Friday.
The corporation held its presentation in the Russian embassy here.
"The U.S. shows intensive interest in this cooperation with us even though it is the world's leader in that sphere and we're only starting its development," Melamed said.
He called the discussions he had had with executives of the U.S.
nanotechnological sector 'very fruitful ones'.
"We discussed practical steps and mapped out a number of areas for
partnership," Melamed said.
"In the first place, this concerns observace of standards, security, and joint programs for promoting nanotechnologies in our contacts with business executives," he said.
Melamed indicated that a number of U.S. corporations have already
filed applications with Rosnanotech for research works in the field.
"There's only a handful of such applications at the moment, yet we
began to accept them in April and we hope that their number will grow
noticeably," he said.
