Russian-language poets awarded with prizes of WARP, Itar-Tass

BAGDATI (Georgia), July 21 (Itar-Tass) -- The International Russian-Georgian Poetry Festival continues in Georgia. The festival istimed to coincide with the 115th birth anniversary of great Russian poet Vladimir Mayakovsky and the 80th birth anniversary of prominent Georgian author Nodar Dumbadze.

On Saturday, July 19, participants of the festival met in the districtcenter of Bagdati, the native town of outstanding Russian poet Mayakovsky.

At the museum dedicated to Mayakovsky in Bagdati Russian-language poets were awarded with the prizes of the World Association of Russian Press(WARP) and the Itar-Tass news agency.

Poet Zurab Rtveliashvili was awarded for the best translation from Georgian into Russian, poetess from Estonia Olessya Kaneva, who was the youngest partaker at the festival, received a special prize. The activity of the Tbilisi-headquartered international cultural and enlightenmentunion Russian Club, which organized the festival, was distinguished.

At the poetry festival Russian-language poets from about 30 countries recited their poems. "The literature does not have borders, and it is not surprising that this wonderful festival is held in Georgia," well-knownGeorgian film director and writer Otar Ioseliani said.
