Nomination for polls in lower house of Belarus parliament to begin
MINSK, July 21 (Itar-Tass) -- The nomination of candidates for theelections in the Belarusian House of Representatives, the lower house of the country's parliament, will begin on Sunday, July 20, and will last until August 18.
Under the Belarusian election legislation, political parties, the staff of companies, as well ordinary citizens through a signup campaign can nominate their hopefuls for deputy mandates. Only a Belarusian citizen, who turned 21, does not have convictions and resides permanentlyin the country, can be a nominee in the parliamentary elections.
Chairperson of the Belarusian Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina forecasts that six candidates will vie for each deputy mandateon average.
The elections in the lower house of parliament are scheduled inBelarus for September 28.
