Protocol demarcates Russian-Chinese border along entire length.

BEIJING, July 21 (Itar-Tass) - The additional protocol-description of the Russian-Chinese state border in its eastern part, signed on Monday, means "that the state border has been fully and finally demarcated along the entire length," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said after the signing ceremony.

"It is extremely important that these compromise agreements werereached proceeding from the strengthening of good-neighbourly relations. We were not discussing territories, but specified the line of the border, a specification on the basis of which and in line with contemporary international law, gaps in the legal basis were closed up," the Russian foreign minister said.

"All this confirms that any issues, even the most intricate, aresolvable if the sides search for mutually acceptable agreements and make efforts on the basis of equality and mutual respect," he added. "Now, all conditions have been created from the legal point of view to make the Russian-Chinese border a border of peace, stability and prosperity," he stressed.

"All this creates conditions for the development of regional cooperation on the border. I am confident that the citizens of ourcountries and entrepreneurs will soon feel the benefit from that," Lavrov emphasized.
