RCA begins delivery of relief aid to victims of drought in the Horn of
Abu Dhabi, July 22 (WAM) - The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) hasbegun delivery of relief aid to victims of drought in the Horn of Africa, particularly in Ethiopia and Somalia.
"Drought has caused crop failure and killed livestock in some parts of the Horn of Africa.
This situation has caused a serious humanitarian situation which we are trying to address by sending relief supplies to those in need", said Dr. Ali bin Abdullah Al Kaabi, Chairman of the RCA Board of Directors.
He added that the RCA has marshalled resources for the delivery of urgent aid to the victims, adding that the new operations will add up to the total of 2060 tons of foodstuff which had already been delivered to the needy in Djibouti, Ethiopia,Eritrea, Kenya, Somalia and Sudan.
