WOMEN NEED TO BE UNITED AND LOOK AFTER THEIR HEALTH FOR SUCCESS, SAYS MINISTER

KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 (Bernama) -- Women must always be united and look
after their health in order for them and the country to be successful, said
Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul
Jalil.

"(There are) two things that women must remember, firstly, for the Malaysian
women to be successful, the country must be peaceful and stable, we should not
quarrel, and secondly, we should not allow political instability to develop. Our
government will be weak if we quarrel among ourselves," she said in the
programme 'Apa Kata Wanita' (What Say Woman) produced by RTM1, a government
owned television and radio station.

She also said that women's health was crucial in the women's development,
not only in terms of physical, but also in terms of the spiritual and mental
development.

Shahrizat said women played a significant role in the country's economic
growth as they constituted 49 per cent of the Malaysian population of 28.9
million.
