Lith, Georgia defence ministers to discuss NATO admission prospects
VILNIUS, July 23 (Itar-Tass) -- The main theme of the three-dayofficial visit by Georgian Defence Minister Zaza Gogava to Lithuania will be prospects for the Trans-Caucasian republic to join NATO. The visit will begin on Wednesday.
Gogava will meet with his Lithuanian counterpart Juozas Olekas, armed forces commander Valdas Tutkus and representatives of the general staffand troops, the Lithuanian Defence Ministry's press service said.
The defence ministers will discuss prospects for Georgia to join the North Atlantic alliance and bilateral military cooperation issues. The Lithuanian side intends to inform the guest about the course of the reform of the armed forces, the aim of which is switching of the army to the contractual basis by 2014 and participation in international militaryoperations.
Gogava will visit Lithuanian army units, including a training regimentand a special-purpose unit.
