UN DPI TO HOLD ROUNDTABLE MEETING ON DECENT AND PRODUCTIVE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Baku, 23 July,(AzerTAj)The United Nations Department of Public Information in close partnership with the Commissioner for Human Rights and National NGOs Forum will organize a roundtable in the Shamkir region of Azerbaijan on 23 July 2008 on the topic “Decent and productive employment opportunities for the youth: problems andfuture perspectives” for elaborating and discussing the current situation in the areas of the protection of labour rights, existing national labour legislation, implementation of policy in the field of decent work and social protection with regards to youth employment.

In order to achieve an insight to the present situation and employment opportunities for the youth in country the roundtable will bring together the representatives of Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population, Ministry of Youth and sport,UNICEF, local authorities and youth organizations.

The socio-economic reforms successfully implemented in the Republic of Azerbaijan ensure the dynamic development of the economy and considerable improvement of welfare of the population. According to the recent Labour Force Survey in the Republic of Azerbaijan conducted by the UNDP, Government of Azerbaijan and International Labour Organization important changes occurred in the structure ofprivate and public employment during the period 2003-2006.
