More than 52,000 foreign tourists visit Oudomsay in 2006-2007
(KPL) In the 2006-2007 period, the northern province of Oudomsay welcomed 76,970 visitors, 52,410 of whom were foreign tourists. Their visit brought about more than 35 billion kip to the province.
The statement was released during the annual meeting to review the tourism work of the province held early this month in the provincial hall.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Sivanh Bounsavath, Head of the Tourism Office of Oudomsay province, and was attended by neighbouring provinces' representatives, and Mr. Somphong Mongkhonvilay, Minister to the PrimeMinister's Office.
The meeting reviewed the activities made by the province in the past fewyears and discussed the tourism development plan for the 2007-2008 year.
On this occasion, Mr. Somphong Mongkhonvilay expressed congratulations for the achievements and efforts made by local authorities to develop the tourism activities of the province. He also has asked all local people and authorities to pay more attention and contribute to developing and promoting the tourism sector as a priority since it is the major means to attain thedevelopment goal of the province.
