New Chukotka governor to be sworn in on Thursday
ANADYR, CHUKOTKA REGION, July 24 (Itar-Tass) - Roman Kopin will be sworn in as a new governor of the Chukotka autonomous district onThursday, the district Duma reports.
The former Chukotka governor Roman Abramovich and presidential envoy in the Far Eastern Federal District Oleg Safonov will be present at the inauguration. Roman Kopin will read out the text of an oath and will receive the governor's certificate.
On July 3, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed a decreeterminating the powers of the ex-governor Roman Abramovich at his request.
Kopin was appointed acting governor. On July 11, Medvedev submittedKopin's candidacy to consideration of the distict Duma. On July 13, the deputies approved Kopin in this post.
