AZERBAIJANI MP MEETS ASSOCIATE DEAN OF SWC

Baku, 24 July,(AzerTAj) - Gultakin Hajiyeva, deputy chairperson of the Milli Majlis standing commission on International Relations and Inter-parliamentary ties, MP, met Wednesday in Baku with Associate dean of the Los-Angeles-based Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) Rabbi Abraham Cooper.

Mrs. Hajiyeva said in terms of respect for other nations, Azerbaijan could be an example to even member states of the Council of Europe.

According to her, the Jews, Russians and representatives of other nations residing in Azerbaijan, have never experienced anti-Semitism.

On the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Hajiyeva said the dispute impedes the development of Azerbaijan and the region wholly. She also underlined Armenians have destructed historical-cultural monuments, museums, cemeteries in the occupied territories.

Abraham Cooper, in turn, spoke of the importance of work to inform the world community about Azerbaijani realities. He condemned Armenian atrocities against Azerbaijanis.

The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
