Lao Front holds photo exhibition marking its 60th birthday

VIENTIANE, 12. AUG (KPL) - Over 150 photos have been on display at a photo exhibition held to mark the 60th anniversary of the Lao Front for National Construction.
Documentaries portraying the struggle of Lao people against invading powers during the wartimes and the growth and achievements of the Lao Front for National Construction were also screened at the event, held on 11-13 August at the Lao International Trade Exhibition and Convention Centre (Lao-ITECC).
“Today, we are here to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Lao Front for National Construction, which reflects our unity in fighting against enemies for our great independence and freedom,” said President of the Lao Front for National Construction Sisavath Keobounphanh.
“Over the past 60 years, we have built strong ties of friendship with Vietnam, China and Cambodia as well as many friendly countries in the world,” said Mr. Sisavath.
Vice-President of the Lao Front for National Construction, Mr. Sayamang Vongsak, said that the purpose of the exhibition was to display to the public the achievements and tradition of the Front and its victory over colonial powers, and its participation in the national development under the innovation mechanism of the Party and state.
The event is also to educate the young generation about revolutionary and energetic spirit and the interpretation into reality of the 8th Party Congress’ resolution and the welcoming of the 9th Party Congress, the 55th anniversary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the 35th anniversary of the Lao PDR, and the 90th birthday anniversary of late President Kaysone Phomvihane.
Present at the event were officials from line ministries, families of former leaders and the general public.
