PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, July 25 (Itar-Tass) - There has been anearthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 points on the Richter scale near the eastern coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula. There have been no casualties and destruction. No tsunami threat was announced, sources at the Far East regional centre of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry told Itar-Tass on Friday.
The epicentre of the overnight quake was located in the area of Cape Shipunsky 136.1 kilometres northeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
According to the Emergencies Ministry's main department for the Kamchatka territory, the earth tremors were not felt in populated localities on the peninsula.
