Vietnam is busy consulting other ASEAN member countries

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam is busy consulting other ASEAN member countries on a
proposal to make ASEAN play an intermediary role in settling the Preah Vihear
Temple conflict between Thailand and Cambodia , said Vietnam ’s foreign
ministry spokesperson.

Replying to reporters’ query on Vietnam ’s reaction to that proposal on August
17, spokeswoman Nguyen Phuong Nga said Vietnam ’s wish is that Thailand and
Cambodia solve their Preah Vihear Temple conflict by peaceful measures and
dialogue.

These measures will suit the agreements already reached by the two countries and
avoid armed clashes that would affect ASEAN unity, Nga said.-Enditem
