US companies seek cooperation with Rosnanotech-Melamed.

NEW YORK, July 25 (Itar-Tass) - American companies have "displayed an interest" in cooperating with the state-run nanotechnology corporation - Rosnanotech, however, "no concrete applications have been made so far - a certain time is needed for this," Rosnanotech Director General Leonid Melamed said at a press conference in New York on Thursday. The conference was devoted to the results of the first visit of the state corporation's leadership to the United States.

During a week's tour Rosnanotech representatives visited Washington where they held a number of meetings with the leadership of the US National Nanotechnology Coordination Office (NNCO), visited a laboratory working in this sphere in the capital of New York State -Albany, took part in an international summit on nanotechnologies and renewable energy sources in Denver (Colorado). Rosnanotech also held its presentation in the American capital.

In the words of Melamed, over 570 applications for getting financing have been submitted to Rosnanotech at present. The overwhelming majority of these proposals are at the stage of expert examination and study. The total budget of Rosnannotech that was established in 2007 for the support of nanotechnologies is 130 billion roubles. The corporation will invest these funds in the projects that are recognised by its experts the most promising.
