SCO foreign ministers draft summit agenda - Lavrov.
DUSHANBE, July 25 (Itar-Tass) - Foreign ministers of the ShanghaiCooperation Organization'scontries have drafted documents and agenda of the upcoming SCO summit due in Dushanbe on August 28, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday.
He stressed that the prepared documents are aimed at increasingpractical response of the SCO activities - the neutralization of terror and drug-trafficking threats emanating from Afghanistan and the holding of joint anti-terror exercises.
"We are confident that this summit will help consolidate the SCO and strengthen its positions in the modern world. Many countries' interest in our activities proves attractiveness of the organization's principles of equality, mutual respect and consideration of each other's concerns," Lavrov said.
"We considered practical ways of increasing activity engagement of observer states. There are objective proposals that will help makeimportant steps in this direction soon," he said.
"SCO foreign ministers coordinated a decree on a partnership dialogue that allows all countries to find the form of interaction with the organization," Lavrov said.
"We will not rest on our laurels and will continue to strengthen this useful and important structure and boost cooperation with other organizations in addition to those agreements we've signed in theAsia-Pacific Region and may be, with organizations in other regions," he said.
"The organization's real achievements prove its attractiveness. I hope that in the future the SCO will turn into an umbrella that will protect us from all misfortunes," Lavrov said.
