B.J.P. to launch nationwide agitation against government

New Delhi, Jul 26 (PTI) - With an aim to capitalise on the alleged cash-for-votes episode during the recent trust vote in the lower house of the Indian parliament, the opposition Bhartiya Janta Party (B.J.P.) is launching a nation-wide campaign from July 27 to August 2 to "expose the throne (government) of corruption and misrule through (use of) blackmoney".

"To stay in power for another six months, the 'dalals' (power-brokers) have invested more than Rs 600 crore. Now they have begun the process of getting returns with interest," B.J.P. vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said at a pressconference here Saturday.

Naqvi announced that a nationwide campaign named 'Bhanda-phod (unmasking corruption) agitation' will be launched by B.J.P.'s prime ministerial candidate L. K. Advanihere on Sunday.

Other senior leaders will also take part in the protest marches, rallies and public meetings that will be part of this agitation. Rajnath Singh (Lucknow), Jaswant Singh (Chennai), M. M. Joshi (Indore), Sushma Swaraj (Mumbai), M. Venkaiah Naidu (Ernakulam and Jaipur) and Yashwant Sinha (Ranchi) willlead the agitation in different parts of the country.

"The manner in which political parties opposed to the nuclear deal supported the government during the trust vote proves that horse-trading was done on a large-scale and there was blatant use of black money," Naqvi said. PTI RC
