Dh104 million, cost of RCA programmes in Afghanistan

Abu Dhabi, July 28, 2008 (WAM) - The total cost of humanitarian programmes conducted by the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) from 1997- 2008, was Dh104.080 million.

The projects included schools, hospitals, residentialtowns with all amenities, as well as services which targeted the needy, including widows and orphans, sick people and people with special needs.

The RCA projects in Afghanistan eased sufferings of Afghani people, who are looking forward to the basic life needs.

HE Dr Ali Abdullah Al Ka'abi, board chairman of the RCA, emphasised noble care of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to boost charity and humanitarian work in sisterly and friendly countries worldwide in line with the course set by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Dr Saleh Mousa Al Taie, Secretary General of the RCA, said that the RCA carried out a number of projects and relief programmes based on the support from philanthropists in the UAE to assist the needy in Afghanistan, adding that the "RCA projects have left great impact on the life of people in thatcountry".
